"This filter works really good and the water taste wonderful. The filter does last 1 year so is not too expensive to replace due to its longevity."

"I recommend the Paragon Countertop Water Filter - Chrome Model. I've had mine for over seven years. I change the filter every year and have never had any problems with leaking.

I like being able to move it around on my counter to fill a tall bottle in the sink or a short bottle right on the counter.

It's true that the cover is made of plastic as well as parts of the filter. Unfortunately, I haven't found any passive water filter systems that are made of food grade stainless steel or glass. I can only hope that the manufacturer is using a plastic that has minimal negative impacts on the water.

The little knob on the water diverter kept coming unscrewed. I super glued it on and that solved that problem.

Otherwise, I love it."

"I loved this the 1st couple years, but each year since it has been increasingly difficult to attach the base when changing the filter. It now leaks water from the base every time I use it. Over the past year I have also been trying to eliminate plastic from my kitchen, so if you're looking for chrome, beware, this is plastic with a faux chrome finish. Thus, every time I put water into my glass bottle, it's filtered through a plastic recepticle, and the water sits in that recepticle between use, so I suspect it's leeching lots of chemicals into my drinking water."

"This water filter works until it's time to change the filter. When we replaced the filter, water leaked out (no, "pours out" is a more accurate description) from between the base and the top chrome part. It flooded my counter top and floor before I realized what was happening because it was leaking from the back. All Gaiam can offer is a useless apology and a weak reminder of their "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" motto (will they really give me my money back for the system after I've had it for over a year? (that's when you need to change the filter) and that's embarrassing. DO NOT BUY THIS FILTER SYSTEM!!!"

We are sorry to hear about the problem with the filter.
If the unit is leaking after the filter cartridge was changed, there may be a missing part or perhaps a step was missed in the manufacturer's instructions. We will be happy to help you with getting a replacement part or further instructions from the manufacturer if needed. Please contact us directly at customerservice@gaiam.com if we can be of further help.
