hardware problem Date: February 14, 2009
"I agree with the reviewer who said that the fabric was good but the hardware and string placement was lousy.
I have to lower very carefully so as to avoid getting the string caught up in the fabric behind. It can be done, but I foresee many times when I will have to get on the table to free the string.
I also don't know how to work the clear plastic thingie's. I want to raise them. Presumably, they are raisable, but there is no info about that in the directions, and they seem so fragile that I am afraid I will break them if I push or pull too hard. I have a call into Gaiam customer service for help on that question.

I rated it fair rather than poor because we have so little selection for high quality merchandise that the fact that the fabric is good has influenced me unduly."

Wonderful fabric, poor design and hardware Date: January 11, 2009
"The fabric is much nicer than the cheaper canvas variety I bought elsewhere, but the cord placement is awkward and the hardware is extremely fragile and poorly designed. I've had to move these shades to a little used room where they don't need to be raised and lowered every day. The cheapo alternatives are not quite as attractive in my living room, but they don't fall down when the cord is adjusted, and that's really an essential quality."

problem cord Date: December 15, 2008
"It is a pain using the cord behind the shade. I have to stand on a window bench to reach behind the shade to get the shade up and down everyday. The only way to get the cord in the front would be to turn it around and have all the hardware and pully cords showing. Very poor design for a shade used daily."
