OK Product

Date: April 27, 2012
"This is a confusing product. Not that easy to install and may require addt'l parts if your shower head doesn't support the existing product connection (male/female connection). I had to purchase that piece (not exactly convenient). The "rain shower" effect on this shower head is EXTREMELY light - no pressure. Maybe good for guest bathroom? Not what I expected. And now for the quality of the product: leaks. Tried teflon tape over and over - leaks from the shower arm, leaks from the filter arm - had professional plumber install w/no luck. This item is going back."

"This is the best filter I have ever used - and I have tried quite a few! The water feels like a rain shower and is VERY relaxing. I would definitely recommend it."

filtered shower with design

Date: November 28, 2011
"The design and function was just excellent. It adds class to my shower! I would like the adjustments for the direction of the water to be easier. And a thinner stream of water might give it more power to the water as it sprays.
overall, very good product

impossible to install

Date: November 9, 2011
"if you are a single woman and do not know anything mechanical -- forget about installing this showerhead...
all parts just fell apart and impossible to put it together.
Please note that all chrome color parts are not chrome, everything is lightweight plastic.
unfortunately, this shower with it's filter are useless, as I couldn't even install it. keep in mind, that I have no problems installing any other shower filter. this was the only problematic one...

Gets the Chlorine Out

Date: January 13, 2011
"We have hard city water that reeks of chlorine and dries out skin and hair especially in the winter. The Rain Shower Filter takes out the chlorine smell and the minerals and our hair and skin are no longer dry even now in January. The softness of the water is amazing and the showerhead is most enjoyable. The filters are easy to change too. My husband and I find the Rain Shower the next best thing to walking in a warm summer rain."

Make sure your plumbing has adequate pressure

Date: November 26, 2010
"It installs easily and looks great, and I prefer an overhead shower design to the spray-at-an-angle design. That being said, there must indeed be some powerful filtering going on, because our water pressure is drastically reduced. I suppose you could wax poetic about how it's like a gentle rain in some tropical spa, but the fact is, when it's a cold Winter morning this shower head is not really wide enough or strong enough (with our plumbing, at any rate) to give a satisfying experience... And we are not big people! Another 2-3 inches in diameter would have been better.
It's only been a month so I cannot really comment on whether we've noticed a difference using filtered water. It's a long-term commitment, I suppose. I wish I had a way of independently testing the filtration, or at least have some stats published by the (Chinese) company that makes it--or Gaiam, for that matter. But I have neither, so I just have to trust that it's doing something positive for our hair and skin."

Overall Good

Date: September 15, 2010
"The good:
The filter does a good job and is comparable to other filters I have used before. The ability to change height and reach of the shower head via the arms is absolutely great (with some cons). Definitely saves on water and makes the hot water last longer.
The cons:
It's only about 6" or so across and with the flow restrictor you really don't get much of a wide pattern of spray. For a smaller person that may not matter but I am over 6' and have a broad frame (180 lbs). When I stand under it the water only hits my head and so I have to constantly move around to get coverage over the rest of my body. That is going to suck when it is winter time and I'm trying to warm up in the shower. Having an 8" diameter head or having some of the outlet tips angled out would really help with the coverage. I also like a more powerful shower so for me this is quite lacking in that department (but that is personal preference).
The ability to adjust height and reach is definitely nice however the design has a flaw in it. The joint at midpoint (just after the filter) is not strong enough to hold the shower head where you put it. If you tighten down the joint to much (or have it in wrong position) you will completely stop the flow of the water. I have to take the angle for that joint much further above where I want it and tighten it down. After that the arm coming out of that joint will slowly begin to drop over a few days. It eventually stops a little lower than where I want it but it is good enough.
Tips:
As one review previously mentioned, tip the shower head up at an angle after you turn off the water as this helps drain the water from the head faster.
Since tightening the joints to much can actually stop water flow it is helpful if you can adjust them with some water flowing or test the water flow after you have adjusted it. With water flowing some water will leak from the joints when loosened.
When showering I found that putting the shower head at a slight angle helps just a tad with getting more coverage.
Overall I'm happy with this unit (at least until winter comes). If the joint problem could be fixed and get more pressure and/or spray coverage, then it would be perfect.
I mainly use the middle setting. The two settings for the mist from the center I find useless and the two settings for the pulse from the center are only handy when I shave in the shower to help clean out the razor faster.
Hope this helps."

Quite Enjoyable

Date: May 19, 2010
"This shower filter has transformed our shower experience. The 5 settings all have their benefits. There are three settings we use on a daily basis. It is easy to change settings while the water is running. We are very pleased with the filter and think it is worth every penny."

"It looks great and I can feel the difference on my skin and hair. I live in San Diego and the water is HARD. This is a great and inexpensive alternative to a full house filtration system (not possible for me in my condo)."

Great Adjustable Rain Shower

Date: January 22, 2010
"The Rain Shower Filter is similar in design and function to the Sunflower showerhead which is also a great product offered by Gaiam. The 20" double hinged extension arm is a great innovation allowing you to place the shower head anywhere you want it. I am now able to raise the shower head to the exact height that I want as well as move the shower head further from the wall, giving me more room to bathe. The shower head has 5 spray settings: a light massage from the center of the shower head, a rain fall setting using the whole 6" shower head, and a strong but fine spay also emitted from the center of the head. The remaining two setting are combinations between these three settings. The settings are changed by rotating the face of the shower head (not clearly explained in the instructions). The rainfall spray setting is a bit fine and strong for a rainfall (compared to the Sunflower shower head) but it is still nice. There is good water pressure and it was easy to install. I have seen reviews of showerhead extension arms with complaints about the hinges not strong enough to support the weight of the shower head, but this is not the case here. The wing nut hinges on the Rain Shower Filter are very secure and easy to tighten and loosen. The water filter is located in the arm. San Francisco has pretty good water, but having a filter does seem to leave your skin feeling healthier. Overall, great stuff!"
