All Food Recycling Compost Kit with Bokashi

All Food Recycling Compost Kit with Bokashi

With the Bokashi compost bucket, now it's easy to discard meat, fish, dairy and even bones right in your kitchen without turning or creating unpleasant smells. Developed in Japan, the All Food Recycling Compost Kit quickly and odorlessly converts your organic waste into a high-grade soil conditioner through the use of effective microbes or Bokashi — a Japanese word meaning "fermented organic matter."

Similar to the process used to make wine, this system relies on fermentation to decompose the matter rather than putrefaction, so no offensive odor is produced. In about 10 days, you can bury the nutrient-rich matter in the garden or empty the Bokashi kitchen compost bucket into your compost pile to help improve physical, chemical and biological environments in the dirt. Sprinkle a handful of Bokashi onto the waste every time you add to the bucket. One bag of Bokashi is good for one bucket full of compost. Japan.

"The tub is a good size and the bokashi works well, however this design needs work! The top is a drag to remove when you have a handfull of sloppy veggies you want to deposit and the top is also not made of durable plastic . Mine has already torn at the edge, so soon it will not seal the smelly contents. This should have a durable easily lift up top that hinges and seals with a clip. There should be a side pocket for the bokashi to be stored so you don't have to fight with opening and resealing the bag."

No more smelly garbage! Date: October 20, 2009
"We've been using the Bokashi system for over a year, and I couldn't be more pleased. Not only are we reusing our kitchen scraps for compost (which is wonderfully high quality) but our garbage has no odor anymore (because no food goes into it) and we use fewer garbage bags. It's especially useful for those of us with small houses and yards, since the Bokashi bucket doesn't take up much room, and outside you won't need a big compost pile."
