"I love this butter bell since it easily holds a stick of butter, it is a breeze to fill and keeps the butter at just-the-right-room temperature softness. If your home is above 72 degrees or so, the butter can slip out, but that is not a problem here in Alaska! Enjoy."

"I've been using this crock for about 3 months now and have had no problems whatsoever. It's attractive, and it works! It holds about 3/4 cup of butter, and we easily use that in a week."

Almost as Good as it Sounds Date: June 11, 2009
"Our family of four had made the switch to butter, but then there is the problem of softening it enough to spread on soft bread or toast. While I was a little skeptical of "weeks" of life of the butter at room temperature, we have found this to be a good solution for us. I put in part of a stick (no more than a two-week supply) at each loading as we did have one batch to mold. I usually change the water after a few days. It is lovely to have fresh, spreadable butter for a crusty loaf of bread!"

Not worth it unless you eat A LOT of butter! Date: November 12, 2008
"I purchased this because I am tired of having hard, cold butter to put on my toast. However, my family does not eat enough butter before it goes bad. It seemed to keep the butter for about 2 weeks. So, we end up throwing away 3/4 of a stick of butter the first time I used it. We even tried just a half a stick, and we sill didn't use it all before it went bad after about 2 weeks. We use unsalted butter, so perhaps you would have better luck with salted butter. Also I purchased this in the summer, and we do not have air conditioning, so it was about 80 degrees all day inside of our kitchen. So, if you have AC, the butter might stay fresher longer.
The water and the butter developed mold after about 2 weeks."
