Smart Power Strip

Smart Power Strip

Even when they’re off, today’s electronics continue to draw electricity we pay for but don’t use. This revolutionary power strip prevents that waste. Plug your main device (computer, TV, etc.) into the primary outlet and its peripherals (printer/scanner or VCR/cable box, etc.) into the others. High-tech sensors know when you shut down the main device, and they cut off everything else. Saves up to 72% of the energy your systems use, eliminates 640 lbs. of CO2 per year and offers state-of-the-art surge protection. With 6' cord, six no-idle outlets and three always-on outlets. 16"L x 6¼"W x 2"H. China.

"I love this thing! I was nervous about it turning everything off at first but I had no trouble with the cable and the WII, etc. I am going to be purchasing more of these for other items as well. I really like the fact that it has different outlets for "never turn off", etc."

Works great! Some hints... Date: October 19, 2008
"I like the Smart Strip quite well. It took a bit to get the hang of what loads were big enough to trigger the switching; most small appliances (e.g., fans) don't draw quite enough power, even when you adjust the sensitivity of the strip (yes, you can do that - there's a small control on the side that lets you make the strip more or less sensitive).

We finally settled on an arrangement with the computer (an older iMac) as master, the printer, external speakers, and the wireless repeater all on switched outlets, and the lamp on an unswitched one. This way, when the computer goes to sleep, it turns off all the peripherals automatically, but we still have the light on to see.

It's a great way to automate this kind of setup. Highly recommended. I'm picking up a second one to control the TV etc. in the living room.

"The best way to reduce draw from always plugged in televisions and their add-ons. I feel better just knowing it's not drawing energy when I switch off the TV. SIMPLE"
