I disagree! Date: August 26, 2009
"I don't understand the negative attitude of the previous reviewer. This DVD set is great...if you are self-disciplined. With young children at home, classes have been a difficult commitment for me, but I have been able to rely on this set to help me establish a healthy routine at home. The stiffness that the other reviewer described was, from my perspective, Sean's taking very seriously the importance of teaching proper alignment in order to both avoid injuries and to maximize the effectiveness of the yoga session. I greatly appreciated the care and detail that she used in teaching poses. The reason there is no narration in the second DVD is because you are supposed to use the first one to learn the movements and use the second one to learn to unite your breath with those movements (you are supposed to master the first disc before moving onto the next one - it sounds like the first reviewer was impatient and more accustomed to classes). There is light music playing, but you are supposed to be listening to her breathing rhythms, which are recorded into the soundtrack. I now am familiar enough with the progressions that I often silence the volume and play my own music playlists."

seane corn is great; this DVD set is not Date: June 10, 2009
"i am extremely disappointed in this set. i was expecting a fully narrated and strenuous vinyasa flow video. in the instructional video: prepare for 72 minutes of seane corn talking through poses in a stilted manner with no flow because she has to interrupt herself to explain the poses. in the biz, this is called "unscripted" which can be maddening if you're just trying to absorb the content and do the work. and seane sounds frustrated, as if she doesn't know why the DVD is being made but because she's so good at what she does, someone thought it would be a good idea to film her... it's odd. but, it is like you're in a class because she's very good about posture and breath.

but then when i was ready to watch the actual "breath" DVD - there is no narration, so unless you have a fabulous memory or eyes all over your head, you won't be able to follow this video. to require the students/viewers to look up at a video screen whilst in the midst of a SILENT vniyasa flow, is dangerous and blows the whole zen.

her next DVD set, "the body and beyond - session two" (the next step) is a slight improvement because it does have a 40 minute narrated vinyasa flow, but the poses are identical to the vinyasa flow of the first DVD set. and it's all geared to a beginner level so it's not a challenge."
