"I just love these pants. I have had them for over a year now. They are so comfortable I bought a pair for a friend and she loves them too. We both teach and practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong and wear them in class. The calligraphy letters represent "Life is art" in Chinese, or something similar. That was one interpretation. The red symbols are the dragons eye, which is a signature for artists in China. I just purchased another two pairs for when these wear out. Wear in good health."

"My Mum is the most difficult person I know to buy gifts for but I struck gold with this purchase for her 75th birthday! Mum faithfully practices a senior Tai Chi class for arthritis at the local Y and I thought that maybe she would find these pants practical, comfortable and stylish for her class. What a great idea! Not only does Mum love them but ALL the little old ladies in her class do too! Everybody asks her where she found them and the cute shirt I also bought from Giaim to go along with the pants. So the tai outfit has been a raving success! Mum says they are indeed comfortable and I can see that they fit her well and flatter her full figure. She did have to take them up in the length but she has to do that to all of her pants. She is very proud of her Giaim outfit and I am so happy to have finally found the perfect gift for her."

"These eye catching pants were a real bargain at $17.99. I got several complements on them. They are very comfortable as well. Since a translation of the characters did not come with the pants, I asked a of clerk in Chinatown who said a rough one is "Life is Art." That seems to follow the Tao."

Not so great for "curvier" women

"I read some reviews (+ & -) & ordered 2 sizes - thank goodness - these pants are obviously great for thin women. I have some curves (5'4", 145 lbs) & the Large was way too tight - no room at all. The XL is better, although had to be hemmed."

"I bought these pants as they were so cheap on sale and am very happy i did! i take tai chi also and they are perfect for that, but also fit me pretty well and are amazingly comfortable and light. i didnt realize at first that writing is only on the right leg, but i like that.
im a little on the petite side for pants, so the size i bought fits me well. I also do not put them in the dryer as i imagine since it is cotton they will shrink and not fit properly anymore. I would definitely recommend them to friends."

"I love the look and feel of these pants so much that not only do I live in them - but my 11 year old daughter (who is half my size) wants them when she grows taller! I have since purchased a couple more pairs so that I will always have them when one pair gets old and tatty. Bought the Give Back Tee to go with them - my husband thinks I only own these clothes as I am constantly in them! :)"

"I am 5'6" and wear size 10. At first I listened to the other reviews and ordered Large based on what they said. When I tried them on, the pants were enormous, so I exchanged them for Medium. I was worried that M would be too tight, but they fit perfectly and feel great. They are not too long, but I rolled them up like the model picture, and they look good that way, also. I am really glad I exchanged the Large rather than return."

"These pants are a soft, light fabric that's good for hot weather. Be aware that the fit runs on the small side. I normally wear a size 4 in pants and the small fits me with just a whisker to spare. I'd guess that if you wear a size 6 normally you'd need a medium and a size 10 would probably take a large. The waist band is combined elastic and drawstring. It hits just at to 1/2 inch below the belly button. They have pockets which are too small for hands, but would fit a crdeit card nicely."

"I've been curious about these pants since they appeared in the catalog, but the price was out of my range. Now they're on sale, so I'm trying them. I usually wear a size 10 in pants, so I ordered medium. They fit exactly, which wasn't what I was after. I want a more relaxed fit, so I'm exchanging for large. I would guess the length is 32"-33", because I wear about 29"-30", and these pants are too long on me, but that's nothing new. I nearly always have to hem pants. (Thanks, Mom, for teaching me how to sew!) The rise is medium--not low, not high.
The strip of Chinese characters is on one leg, and the other leg is plain. There are a couple of embroidered symbols in red. The pants have inseam pockets on both sides. The fabric is like a poplin or broadcloth, and it's slightly crisp, but I'm sure that's sizing that will wash out. Another reason I'm exchanging for a larger size is that I suspect these will shrink a bit. They seem fairly well made, but with 100% cotton that's not prewashed, I don't like to take a chance. As I said, I want a relaxed fit.
Overall, I think these are kinda cool, and I'm glad the price decreased."
