"TPE isn't the type of material that can take a beating. With that said, my mat started looking beaten after about 10 uses just from stepping my feet through. I'm a small person so it's definitely the material and not the way I use it. I've never seen this happen to a mat of any other material before. Also, the top and bottom are textured differently, even though it's supposed to be reversible. One side is much more slippery than the other, so it wouldn't be a problem in something like restorative, but if you're going through a flow class- know which side is the grippier one!"

"I agree with the person below. My parents bought this product for me a while back, I never used it until now. The second I pulled it out to use, the oddest smell wafted in the air. I decided to neglect the smell, but I couldn't do any poses because it smelled so bad. I left it out in my living room, and it stunk the whole place up! I left it outside to air out for a day, yet it still smells. FYI, I think it smells like fish food..."

We appreciate your review.
Printed yoga mats release a very strong but harmless odor when first unwrapped. Please unroll and air out your mat for 2-3 days before use.

high quality but not sticky Date: December 12, 2008
"This is a very well made, padded, and durable mat. However, it is not sticky, and it has a strong chemical smell. When I place my weight on my hands (e.g., in a downward facing dog position), my hands very slowly slide away from me (emphasis on VERY slowly--like 1 inch in 30 seconds). In addition, when the mat arrived, it had a very strong chemical smell to it--so much so that my car had the smell for several days after leaving the mat in the back seat for a matter of a few hours. The slickness and smell persist even after washing with soap and then again with vinegar and using the mat for a month."
